A different starting point

A marketing service is only useful when it fixes the right problem.

A local business can waste money in several completely different ways. It may be invisible, unconvincing, difficult to contact, slow to respond or targeting a market that is not commercially worthwhile.

Those are different problems. They should not all be sold the same service.

VISIBILITY

Are suitable local people encountering the business?

Check community reach, Google visibility, referrals and whether paid reach is justified.

TRUST

Does what they find make the business feel credible?

Check reviews, proof, photographs, positioning and clarity.

CONVERSION

Can an interested customer take the next step easily?

Check the mobile journey, contact routes, response and follow-up.

ECONOMICS

Would more customers produce enough gross profit?

Check value, margin, close rate, capacity and sustainable acquisition cost.

The promise behind everything
We will tell you what we would do if it were our business and our money.

That means we may:

  • Give you something you can do yourself
  • Tell you to gather evidence before spending
  • Recommend a smaller service than you expected
  • Tell you that SEO or advertising is not worth it yet
  • Point you elsewhere when somebody else is the better fit

Paul Ash
Experience beyond a marketing department

I have built the business, not just the campaign.

I have taken a business from the original idea through product sourcing, margins, marketing, sales, customer service and fulfilment, then sold it. That gives me a different view from somebody trained to sell one channel. I look at whether the whole business can turn marketing into profitable, deliverable work.

I am perfectly happy to spend fifteen minutes listening to what is happening, asking a few sensible questions and giving you my view. Buying something is not the required outcome.

You may leave with an action you can take yourself. We may agree that more research is needed. If I believe we can help, I will explain the smallest sensible option and why.

The initial conversation and a few ideas are free. Detailed research, written strategy and implementation are paid work.

When you want us to do the work

Two clear local-business systems.

We recommend the smallest option that can solve the problem.

Research before a recommendation

SEO and Facebook ads are not automatic upgrades.

We only recommend them when the numbers stack up and the business is ready to make proper use of them.

SEO

Search demand × attainability × conversion × customer value

We research the commercial opportunity before recommending ongoing SEO.

META ADS

Offer × margin × tracking × response × capacity

We do not buy attention before the business is ready to turn it into customers.

Fair questions

Before you take the next step.

Is the scorecard free?

Yes. It asks twenty questions and gives you a result without requiring an email address. You can then use the free guides or request a human opinion if you want one.

Will the free call turn into a sales pitch?

No. Paul will ask enough questions to offer a view. If a service fits, he will explain it. If you should do something yourself, investigate first or avoid spending, he will say that instead.

Do you promise leads or rankings?

No. Results depend on demand, competition, customer value, the offer, budget, capacity and follow-up. We promise a transparent process and straight recommendations, not outcomes we cannot control.

Why is there a six-month agreement?

The website build, setup and planning involve substantial work without a traditional upfront build fee. The initial term makes that model commercially possible. The complete scope and revision limits are agreed first.

Can I use the advice without hiring Local Up Lab?

Absolutely. That is why the Growth Library and scorecard exist. Paid work is for businesses that want deeper analysis, a managed system or help implementing the recommendation.
